A couple of weeks ago, a big announcement was made about Macy’s planned holiday parade in Manhattan, where the company said it would open a “superstore” for its fashion and home goods lines.
Now, after months of delays, Macy’s has announced a grand opening celebration that will feature some of its largest stores, including its flagship flagship store in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.
Macy’s said that the company will offer a free, all-you-can-eat buffet at its Chelsea location and an interactive mall with food and entertainment, but did not give specifics about which of the companies offerings would be available.
The company did offer a teaser of what the parade will look like: You might have seen the Macy ‘s iconic red “Macy’s” flag in the background at the top of the parade.
The event’s official name is the Macy New York Day Parade.
It will be held in Manhattan on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2019.
This is the third time in as many years that Macy’s parade has taken place in New York City.
The first time was in April 2016, when the company unveiled a new “Maltese Falcon” in the heart of Midtown Manhattan for the Macy`s Thanksgiving Day parade.
Macy`lls parade was not the only event to take place in the area during Thanksgiving weekend, as Macy’s stores in New Jersey, Florida, and Florida also were scheduled to host special events.
The company also announced a $25 million renovation of its New York office in March of 2019.
Macy has been trying to get some of the city to embrace its Christmas spirit, but it has struggled to keep up with demand for its seasonal merchandise and the holiday shopping season is starting to hit a lull.
Macys stock fell nearly 7% to $17.96 in after-hours trading on Friday, but rallied to nearly $19.96 on Friday afternoon, up nearly 9% from the stock`s opening price of $18.09 on Tuesday.
Macy`s will be holding the parade at Chelsea Square from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the company announced.
Macy will also be open at 6 a.meeting points in Manhattan.
The parade is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors, including a number of celebrities.
Macy`d previously announced that it will open up to 3,500 holiday stores throughout the U.S. during the holiday season.
The company has also announced that its flagship store at New York`s Plaza Hotel will be open during the parade, and that its stores in Florida and Florida`s Tallahassee will also open.
There are also plans to hold a “summer of love” celebration for the holiday, which Macy`S says will be a day of “unbridled fun and celebration,” but not an official Macy`D event.
Macy also said that it is expanding the Macy Holiday Market to serve customers from 11 p.mn. to 3 a.mn., and plans to open a new store in Florida, the first in the U, in 2018.
With Macy`’s parade expected to take off in Manhattan over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, we are going to have to see how many big names Macy`ls going to bring along for the festivities.
